Plan your trip around key stops like Mount Graham, Roper Lake State Park, downtown Safford, and the Gila Box. Most spots are within a short drive of each other, so you can see a lot in a day—or take your time and explore at a slower pace.

Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes, especially if you’re heading outdoors. Layers are also a good idea—desert days can be warm, while mornings, evenings, and higher elevations on Mount Graham can be much cooler.
